Experimental UFO hoaxing

David Simpson

David Simpson has spent most of his working life in metrology, the science of measurement. For ten years, until 2001, he was Head of the Pressure and Vacuum Section at the UK's National Physical Laboratory, developing some of the world's most accurate pressure and vacuum measuring instruments.

As a younger man, he was active in devising hoaxes to suggest that UFO sightings were most likely attributable to misperceptions and to the distortions of enthusiastic but inexpert observers. The ramifications of this work remain valid to this day.
